So we saw OOTP last night…with my review comes spoilers, so consider yourself warned if you care about such things!
Overall I LOVED the movie! A LOT was left out but they always do that. I can’t imagine trying to watch these movies without having read the books. So much information and backstories are left out.
The casting was, as always, completely phenomenal. Luna, Tonks, Umbridge, and Bellatrix were all amazing. I think the girl who plays Luna Lovegood has a bright future ahead of her if she decides to stick to acting. Then again I think that about most of the cast 
My biggest disappointment is they left out the SWAMP! The Weasley twins went out in a storm of incredibly funny fireworks…but they didn’t turn the corridor into a swamp!! Waaah! What else was left out? Lots of stuff…Cho’s friend who turned in the DA was not there — and I really didn’t care for the way they did find out the DA. I’ve resigned myself to no Peeves but it still makes me sad. The ghosts and Trevor were complete no-shows — not even a mention. They completely changed Neville’s story and had him tell Harry about his parents himself. They left out any reference that the prophecy originally could have referred to Neville as well as Harry. Most of Luna’s story was left out as well. She is shown reading the Quibbler upside down but no mention that her father is the editor, or of the big story the Quibbler did to help clear Harry’s name. Sirius was much less angsty than in the book although it is alluded to at one point in the battle when he calls Harry “James”. Harry’s anger came through loud and clear – they did a good job with that. I don’t like his haircut. It’s too preppy for Harry Potter and it makes him look even older. Very little was done with the OOP headquarters. Kreacher is reduced to two mumbly scenes, he doesn’t come across nearly as foul in the movie as he does in the book. Sirius’ mother’s portrait is never shown, or anything else in the house except the family tree.
N tells me there was at least one scene where they neglected to bind Emma Watson’s chest but I wasn’t checking out the girl’s breasts so I don’t remember that. (OT but whenever I type the word ‘breasts’ I hear Jeff from Coupling’s voice in my head saying the word. Not that that happens often or anything. I mean, I don’t type the word ‘breasts’ all that much. Ahem.)
They left out Umbridge’s whole breakdown where she admits to siccing the dementors on Harry in the first place. Firenze is also left out and the confrontation with the centaurs is changed quite a bit.
Snape is awesome in the occlumency lesson scenes but when Harry gets into his memories there is no mention of Lily just James being a jackass.
Filch is incredible in this one too. He is so happy to have Umbridge in charge and all the Proclamations are great. The bit where the Weasley twins go out is incredibly filmed so you can see Umbridge’s world literally crashing down around her. And her OFFICE!!! OMG the KITTENS and the doilies…it is too perfect!!!
