Way to go, Amazon!!!

Wow…I just went to Amazon.com to look up some Christmas gift ideas for the boys, to be greeted by the information that they have started an initiative to get manufacturers to decrease the packaging for things wherever possible, and make it much easier to open stuff when you get it.  I LOVE this idea, can you tell???!!!

Another addiction

Watch out Snapple White Tea, I’ve discovered SoBe Life Water. Good stuff!

So far I’ve tried two flavors, orange tangerine and pomegranite cherry. Both are fabulous! I’m looking forward to trying some of the other flavors.

It is probably about equal to how much I love the white tea. And it has the advantage of being available in cases :)

I’m naming a cocktail after myself!

’cause as far as I can tell, I invented it!!

Maeve’s Birthday
Smirnoff Orange Vodka
Pomegranite Juice

Mix ‘em together in whatever portions you deem best and enjoy!
It’s my birthday drink because both the vodka and the juice were birthday presents!! :)

I TOLD you they would be mine!!!!!!

So in all the fuss of the last few months, I completely forgot to post that I FINALLY OWN A PAIR OF HOT PINK CONVERSE HIGH-TOPS!!!!!!!!!

And best of all, they were free!! I was chatting with A, at Curves one day about shoes, and mentioned to her that I had been hoping to get a pair. She tells me she has a pair, that were given to her as a gift, sitting in her closet, that she’s never worn. And they were my size!!!!!! So she gave them to me!! How cool is that?

LOL, I’m pretty excited about these sneakers. I wear them all the time!!

The Sweetest Place on Earth

We took the boys to Hershey Park yesterday with C and C. Nevermind the nightmare that was our drive TO Hershey Park (what should have been a 2 hour drive turned into a 5 hour drive, but I really don’t want to dwell on that right now…) WE HAD A WONDERFUL, FABULOUS, AWESOME DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

We got to relax for the day, have some fun, R got to go on his first rides all by himself…my big boy!! He was a “Hershey’s Kiss” on the ride measuring scale, which is just the cutest thing ever! The children stand up against the board which is marked with different candy bars, from Miniatures (which was K!) up to Twizzlers. Whichever candy bar the top of your head reached, those were the rides you were big enough to go on. And lots of the kiddie rides were built to accomodate at least one or two grownups too, so you could go on with your little ones if you are overprotective (like me). Although for the most part R did go it alone! K wasn’t too sure of most of the rides. He liked the Ferris Wheel (which Mommy was nervous on, not liking heights to begin with and then having nightmare thoughts of one of my boys plummeting out of the car, but we got through the ride just fine!), he did okay on the Carrousel (that’s how they spell it there) for about the first half but then something spooked him and he got upset. He liked the train, but freaked out again on the ladybugs. R went on and loved the Frog Hopper, the mini Pirate Ship, the ladybugs, the train, the bees, and the spaceship. C and C helped the boys win stuffed giraffes at one of the games, and we all shared a funnel cake.

We had planned to leave pretty early, but we wound up staying right up until closing and we really had a blast. The boys were somewhat tired today, but I think we all agree it was worth it!

He didn’t even say goodbye…

Today I dropped R off to be alone at school for the first time. He didn’t even say goodbye to me, just ran right into the classroom. He probably expected me to come in with him, since I’ve never just dropped him off and left him at the door someplace before. Teacher doesn’t let the parents come into the classroom when we drop the kids off, she says it’s easier on everyone that way. She’s right, but still…I cried all the way to the food store and bought myself a Take 5 bar as consolation. (BAD Maeve!!!) But then I took so long at the food store that when I went to Curves I couldn’t quite finish my 2nd circuit before it was time to run and pick him up, so the Take 5 bar is tucked up in the pantry. I’ll probably just bring it to work tonight, and I’ll push myself extra hard at Curves on Friday.

Funny web site of the day.

How has it taken this long to come up with this idea?????

Boys need accessories, too!!!!!

School shopping for R has been oh-so-much-FUN (not). Today we went out to pick up all his school supplies, a backpack, a pocket folder, 2 glue sticks, a small bottle of Elmers’ School Glue, a box of tissues, and new shoes (those were for both boys.)

Most of the stuff, no problem. R and I finally found a folder he liked that didn’t have an obnoxious cartoon character emblazoned across it. (he ended up with one with a picture of a puppy on it. MUCH better than the Incredible Hulk, Fear Factor, or the M&M characters chillin’ in front of a tattoo parlor. Who decided that boys = nasty?) The shoes I had to pretty much settle for because Sears had ONE, count ‘em ONE pair of boys brown leather shoes. WTF is up with that?????? Luckily the boys REALLY like their new shoes. (R likes his so much he refused to take them off and even took a nap wearing them today)

The backpack. Let me just say, ugh. I asked on my message board for advice on a good spot to find a TODDLER sized backpack. I mean, this thing only needs to hold one folder. Most backpacks these days are sized to carry laptops, cell phones, ipods, and a weeks worth of trail rations besides. Someone posted that Payless was a good spot to try for such things. I looked it up, and Payless has backpacks, but only for girls. They call them dance bags. Okay. I thought a shoe store was sorta stretching it anyways. So we stop in CVS. They have some backpacks, the only smallish ones they have were Dora the Explorer. I have no problems with Dora, and if we had cable it is definitely a show I would allow the boys to watch. But all Dora stuff is PINK. Not gonna work for R! We finally settled on a plain blue bag, and I picked that up for him.

But I did some more looking around online tonight, and I found out that the Disney Store is advertising some backpacks. And they have some with Dash from the Incredibles!! And they are on sale for only $1.00 more than I paid for the crappy quality CVS one!!! So tomorrow morning before R’s picture sitting, I’m going to stop in the Disney Store in our mall to see if they carry them there! If they don’t that’s okay we’ll just keep the one we got. But I hope they do, because it is MUCH nicer than the one he has right now!!

Anywho, I’ve decided that there is some kind of conspiracy against boys today. Everywhere you turn you have a thousand options, if you are a little girl, for cute stuff. Little boys get the short end of the deal. One little rack of sweater vests and bowties to pick for holiday clothes, and icky obnoxious pictures on folders and backpacks.

R was SO cute today sleeping in his new shoes. N even took a picture of it!!!

So, its been a while, huh?

Yeah, I know. I fully intended to update this thing daily or every other day at worst, but things get busy!

Not much has been going on anyway. It’s been day-to-day routine busy, not really something exciting happening busy.

I’ve been getting together with some friends which is always a good thing! D and D came over last night after the boys went to bed and we had a great time just visiting, hanging out, chatting, oh, yeah, and downing Smirnoff Twisted and Bacardi Silvers like they were water!! I finally crawled into bed around 4 am. It was great! I haven’t done that in soooo long. And it will be a damn long time before I do it again too, LOL. Seriously, I felt great this morning even though I had to get up and go to work.

A called – he’s at Dragon Con (Lucky bastard!) and is staying just a few rooms away from Larry Elmore. I forgot to tell N that when he got in last night … hmmm … wonder why I would have been forgetful of anything last night? HAHA!

The boys have been a handful. (When are they not?) K has taken to imitating everything R does, which can be cute or not, depending on what it is R is doing. R learned how to spell his name today and he has decided that is how everything is spelled.

I finally got to meet T’s little twin boys, R and J, during the week. I was holding J for a while and R (my R) got VERY jealous. Which is really out of character for him. K used to get jealous when I babysat D, but R never really did. The twins are just adorable! So TINY!!!! I love babies!!!!!

I had my weigh-in day at Curves. I didn’t lose any weight but I did lose some body fat percentage and inches, so I’m pretty happy with that. I’m focusing on improving my diet this month so hopefully there will be some weight loss next weigh-in day, which will be October 3.

The rainy day and the further adventures of the skinny kid.

We didn’t go to the zoo today, it was raining. We went to the mall instead. E needed to pick up something for her kids in Old Navy and I’m still looking for jeans for R. I’m looking at the toddler jeans at Old Navy and there is this group of salespeople next to me (what do you call a group of salespeople anyway? A flock? A bevy? A murder?) They are discussing the display for the sale that starts Sunday. It seemed as though they were indicating that the jeans I was looking at would be going on sale. So when they weren’t right in the middle of something, I asked one of them if she knew if the jeans were going on sale. She gives me this look as though I was stuck to the bottom of her shoe, huffs, and says “Not THOSE” indicating the pair of jeans I was holding. Since I had not planned on buying them today anyway I started to put the jeans back on the rack I had just taken them from moments before (there was even still a space where I had pulled them from). Salesgirl GRABS them out of my hand and says, “I’ll take care of those.” In this very snotty tone of voice.

While I will probably end up getting R’s jeans from Old Navy (they have adjustable waists and are cheap) It will most definitely not be that particular store.

What is it with me and salespeople lately? Do I have a sign on my head saying “BE RUDE TO ME” or what?

I called L and we were cracking up over the salespeoples. It’s sheer insanity walking into a store anymore!

On another note, Curves is going well. I’ve been going three times a week and loving it!!! I got new sneakers too! That was fun. NOT!!!! I had no idea buying sneakers was so complicated!!
